Travel Vaccines
If you require any vaccinations relating to make an appointment with a travel clinic in your local area, this is a private service and you may have to pay for this. When you have received your travel advice, any vaccines that is available on the NHS we can give to you. Please bring your travel advice information to the surgery, the receptionist will request the vaccine and this will be collected by your nominated pharmacy (please allow 48 working hours). When you have received your vaccine please contact the surgery to arrange a treatment room appointment with the nurse. Please inform receptionist that this needs to be an appointment with the nurse as our Health Care Assistants can not give any travel vaccines.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
It is important to make this initial appointment as early as possible - at least 6 weeks before you travel - as a second appointment will be required with the practice nurse to actually receive the vaccinations. These vaccines have to be ordered as they are not a stock vaccine. Your second appointment needs to be at least 2 weeks before you travel to allow the vaccines to work.
Some travel vaccines are ordered on a private prescription and these incur a charge over and above the normal prescription charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
